Sooo, one month before school kicks up again and you have stalkers anew*! Wait, will you still be at UCLA in the fall? It'll be my last year. (gasp!) I'm pondering whether to go through the hassle of taking the GRE and applying to grad school this fall amidst taking tough classes - vs. working for a year or two after graduating and applying under less pressure (or so I assume). Having trouble figuring out what I want to do between chemistry and mat'ls science. Chayes told me long ago to major in... more

Dude, you are indeed a geek, but that's why I like you! Come to Aus and climb with J and I!

Must go, J is singing and dancing to Michael Jackson and if I ignore her anymore she may break into Madonna...

Miss you bud!

I do not think bots can get past the Spam Prevention Image on this guestbook but I do agree some guestbooks get hint hard by bots and you can see hundreds of posts per day.

Right, I know. That's why I use a CAPTCHA image. But even still, I do get a fair amount of spam on this guestbook. Now, assuming that even clever bots aren't getting past my CAPTCHA image... the only logical conclusion is that there are people who actually spend their lives just crawling the net looking for guestbooks and public forums in which to post their spam! PEOPLE... doing the work of BOTS... lifeless, soulless imbeciles!?!

 Dude... leave me a little something personal why don't ya? So, you're from Turkey? Cool. How's the climbing there?

When strangers leave brief messages like that, I always wonder if they're just bots promoting some web site. ARE YOU A BOT?

I was wondering if the Brian Schuster you climb with is the same one who went to SCSU back six or seven years ago. If it is say Hi from Brad Bauerly.

I don't think so. He was at UCLA as an undergrad, and just graduated recently. Sorry.

well, "that person" likes the idea of an electronically gear log book. I was just wondering how you set it up. txt based, php, xml... whatever :)

Sorry dude... don't mind my stalkers.

Anyway, see my reply below about the back-end. You're the second person to ask me about my climbing log recently... maybe I'll distribute the code. As I'm sure you could tell from the URLs, it's all done with PHP.

hehe. i don't know what kind of "back-end" that person is talking about... but it sure sounded like they were hitting on you. But thats probably just because I'm a nube.

I must say, I can't help but chuckle when we cross paths in MS. So if you ever hear faint giggling... that might be me. Or it might be another creepy stalker. Ya never know.

:O You're a little freaky, aren't you? Chuckling behind my back when you see me in MS? Jeez...

Maybe one of these days I'll actually figure out who you are.

FYI,

I posted up some open source plans and instructions for sewing up your own russian aider cuffs. Feel free to copy, hack, change, sell, improve, etc at will.

Very nice! Those look like pretty awesome Russian aiders. I've now built two pairs for myself, testing a few different ideas for the buckles. It looks like you came up with exactly the same buckle setup I settled on.

I haven't updated that part of my web site in a while, partly due to lack of time, and partly because I haven't done enough aid climbing lately to test the new cuffs... also due to lack of time.
